Unlocking the Potential of Smart Fleet, Tanker Truck &

Dangerous Goods Transport Operations through Industry 4.0 Technology

Dangerous goods refer to solids, liquids, or gases that include materials that are radioactive, flammable, explosive, corrosive, oxidizing, asphyxiating, biohazardous, toxic, pathogenic, or allergenic. If not properly controlled, those materials with hazardous properties may present a potential hazard to human health and safety, infrastructure and/ or their means of transport. Mitigating the risks associated with hazardous materials requires the application of safety precautions during their transport.

Dangerous Goods transport and logistics can be complex, where IMACHINE's team will work with your team to not only deliver a reliable telematics system for your fleet, packaging and storage depots, but also to ensure correct classification and compliance with the following:

  • United Nations Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS), classification to category 1-4 and equivalent ADG Codes;
  • The Australian Dangerous Goods Code (ADG Code) which is the Australian Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road and Rail, Class and Packing Group (PG) classification.

  • AS1940 definitions for combustible liquids: AS1940 includes a definition for combustible liquids as any liquid, other than a flammable liquid, that has a flash point, and has a fire point that is less than its boiling point. For the purposes of AS1940, combustible liquids are divided into two classes as follows:

    • Class C2 - a combustible liquid that has a flashpoint exceeding 93°C or has been excluded from being a flammable liquid by any of the criteria for sustaining combustion

    • Class C1 - a combustible liquid that has a closed cup flashpoint of greater than 60°C and no greater than 93°C.

IMACHINE'S COMPLETE TELEMATICS SOLUTION:
Based on wireless telematics such as Zigbee Mesh Networks and radio frequency identification (RFID), Inertial Monitoring Unit (IMU) and global positioning system (GPS), IMACHINE designed the latest IMACHINE-Central-Edge vehicle-mounted computer and control system. It provides strong technical support to dangerous goods transport. Integrated with camera, sensors, V2P, and IMU/GPS, IMACHINE tracks vehicle movement and direction, monitors solid or liquid payload condition and also connects to fixed depot infrastructure. With better resource utilisation and visibility, you will gain safer and more efficient transports.

Identity Verification
The IMACHINE vehicle-mounted edge-computer can be setup to verify driver/passenger identity by scanning their fingerprints or IC cards. During transport, IMACHINE-Central-Edge records in real time driver/vehicle behaviour and transmits it to the backend server for managers to inquire about each truck/driver’s availability. It provides a direct indicator of each employee’s performance and safety.

Tanker to Fixed Asset - Vehicle to Process (V2P)

The IMACHINE vehicle-mounted edge-computer can connect to fixed assets, such as depots, tanks, gantry systems, terminals etc for vehicle to process connectivity. This allows automation and integration for liquid and solid filling operations and tracking in real-time of volumes and location of fuels and other dangerous goods.

Cargo / Payload Volume and Condition Monitoring
The IMACHINE vehicle-mounted edge-computer can connect to multiple monitoring sensors to measure detect cargo leak, theft, or changes in temperature and pressure. It keeps the transport transparent. Any risks will be strictly monitored.

GNSS Technology
Based on accurate Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), The IMACHINE vehicle-mounted edge-computer transmits the truck’s real-time location to the backend system. Geo-fences can be set up to ensure that drivers always follow the planned route. If a vehicle deviates from the route, The IMACHINE vehicle-mounted edge-computer can be programmed to send an alert to the backend server or operations.

Camera Streaming and Video Recording
The IMACHINE vehicle-mounted edge-computer can include a front camera and can connect to multiple-channel external cameras to collect video data. Approved users can use these external cameras to live-stream the view (in-car/on-road) as required. If accidents occur, those video feeds can be replayed as evidence.
